UNDER 17 SOCCER MATCH

GORMANSTON COLLEGE V BREMORE EDUCATE TOGETHER, BALBRIGGAN

TUESDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2021

Our Under 17 soccer team got off to a fantastic start to this years competition with a victory over Bremore Educate Together Secondary School, Balbriggan.

This team was the latest to represent Gormanston College for a number of years. It was a comfortable day at the office for our lads who won 11 - 1.

They got off to a great start with Sean O Keeffe putting the school 2 up within the first 10 mins. He quickly completed his hattrick with a well worked team goal after 20 mins. Next to find the back of the net was Faraj Odukoya with a powerful header from a corner crossed in by Evan Brady. A counter attack goal from Quam Omoshonwon and a freekick from Jamie Murphy put us 6 nil up after half an hour.

Bremore never stopped working for their team and were rewarded with a goal on the 35th minute. However, there was still time left for Sean O Keeffe to grab 2 more goals making it 8-1 at half time.

After the break, a neatly taken penalty and a solo effort from Evan Brady along with a goal from Jack O Neill completed the scoring for the match. The team showed great drive, determination and skill in their first outing of the season and are ready to move onto the next round of the cup.

Goal scorers today were: Sean O Keeffe (5), Evan Brady (2), Jamie Murphy, Jack O Neill, Quam Omoshonwon, Faraj Odukoya. Another stand out performance from midfield was Jake Treacy who assisted 4 of the goals and was a key component to the teams victory today.

Congratulations lads and very well done to all.
