Gormanston College is a school with a reputation for high academic standards. The vast majority of students who complete the Leaving Certificate Examination each year progress to the 3rd level qualification of their choice. This is testament to strong and effective teaching in the classroom and quality learning outcomes for students.
The Curriculum at Gormanston College is concerned with values and attitudes, as well as knowledge and skills. It is important that students study a variety of subjects so that they develop the wide range of skills and knowledge which will be necessary in their adult lives.
Gormanston students follow four programmes:
- The Junior Certificate
- Transition Year – (This is not compulsory but recommended)
- Leaving Certificate Applied
- Leaving Certificate
The College offers a broad range of subjects and all students have access to the Careers Guidance Councillor and the Careers Guidance Library. All students are supported in their personal organisation for study and senior students receive specialist individual support in making applications through the CAO process and university requirements for other international countries.
