GORMANSTON CONNECTS
Our Transition Year group has been very involved in the Cycle Against Suicide programme this year. This is an educational programme that attempts to change the narrative around suicide. When an individual is vulnerable enough to consider taking their own life, silence is read as indifference. Cycle Against Suicide sets out to change culture and create a society that openly talks about suicide to allow people to speak up and seek help. Here at Gormanston College, we are proud to be ambassadors for Cycle Against Suicide and build on the work of previous year groups. Of course, Covid has restricted the activities that our TY students have been able to undertake. However, they decided that a socially distant way to raise awareness of this issue would be a podcast. And so Gormanston Connects was established. In this series of podcasts, different groups of TY students discuss different aspects of mental health.
