We are delighted to welcome you to Franciscan College Gormanston, a thriving co-educational Catholic Voluntary Secondary School serving the local community of Gormanston, Co Meath, under the trusteeship of the Franciscan Order.
At Gormanston, we pride ourselves on being a close-knit, supportive community where every student is known individually. Our smaller size allows us to foster personalised learning experiences and strong relationships between students, teachers, and families. We work hard to create an environment where students are happy, grow in self-confidence, and work to their potential.
We are a respectful school community where students learn to appreciate diversity and treat others with dignity. Staff model respectful behaviour and positive communication, and our daily intention is to ask our students to bring the best version of themselves to school each day.
We have high standards where our students are encouraged to be the best that they can be. We aim to build curious minds, create opportunities for independent learning, focus on wellbeing, encourage hard work, and involve students in the life of their school. The voices of our students matter.
We are thrilled to be part of the ambitious "Project Boyne" initiative, which will see Franciscan College Gormanston transition to a state-of-the-art modern school building designed for 1,000 students. Our new 21st-century school building will feature contemporary learning spaces, cutting-edge science labs, specialist classrooms, a Special Educational Needs Suite, a spacious gymnasium and sports facilities, a modern library, and beautiful outdoor spaces. Construction begins in October 2026. These are truly exciting times for Gormanston!
We see ourselves as a local school serving the needs of our local community, and our aim is to be the school of choice for parents and prospective students in the local area.
We remain very proud of our school and our students, and we are fortunate to have a dedicated and committed staff, a wonderful student body, and a supportive Parents Association.
