Exciting News! – Our New School Included in Department of Education Sectoral Plan
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am delighted to share some wonderful news with our school community. The Department of Education has published its Sectoral Plan today, and I am thrilled to confirm that the construction of our new school building is included in this plan.
What This Means for Our School Community:
Our new school will be a state-of-the-art facility designed to accommodate 1,000 students, providing a modern learning environment that will serve our community for generations to come. The building will feature contemporary classrooms, specialist teaching spaces, and modern facilities that will enhance teaching and learning across all subject areas.
Significantly, the new school will also include a four-classroom Special Educational Needs (SEN) base. This dedicated provision will ensure that students with additional learning needs can access high-quality, specialist support within an inclusive school environment, reflecting our commitment to supporting every learner in our community.
Timeline:
The project is expected to proceed to construction in 2026 / 2027.
What This Means for Our Local Community:
This is genuinely brilliant news for our local area! A modern school with excellent facilities will:
- Provide outstanding educational opportunities for current and future students
- Support the growing population in our locality
- Create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all learners
- Offer specialist facilities that will enhance subject provision across the curriculum
- Establish a centre of learning excellence within our community
Our Commitment:
While we look forward to this exciting development, our focus remains firmly on delivering the highest quality education for your children. We will continue to provide excellent teaching and learning in our current setting whilst planning thoughtfully for our future home.
I want to acknowledge the work of everyone who has campaigned and advocated for this new school building. This achievement reflects the dedication of our school community – staff, parents, students, Board of Management, and local representatives – who have consistently highlighted the need for improved facilities.
As we receive further updates from the Department of Education regarding further design, planning, and construction timelines, we will communicate these with you promptly. This is a significant milestone in our school's journey, and I look forward to sharing this exciting chapter with you all.
Thank you for your continued support of our school.
Kind regards,
Dermot Lavin
