Dear Parents / Guardians,
Please find a quick weekly update on recent school activities and events planned for the coming weeks:
• Final update and start date for new traffic management plan will issue later this week.
• Successful Drop Everything and Read last week. Great response to our bake sale. Well done TY students!
• This week Maths Week. Lots of activities and prizes on offer.
• The senior girls’ GAA team had their first match last week against a strong team from Ballymahon Vocational School, County Longford. Although the result didn’t go our way on the day, the girls put in a very strong performance and outscored the opposition with a score of 2:3 in the second half. The team has great potential with some our younger girls coming off the bench to make a huge impact on the game. Well done to all the girls involved. Gormanston Abú!
• Our under 14 boys GAA team had their first outing of the year away to a strong St. Oliver's side last week. We lost by 6 points, but the lads showed phenomenal courage, especially in the second half to claw back a big half time deficit.
• The TY year is in full swing at the minute. Last week students completed their CPR course and will receive certificates, along with completing a day course in self-defence. Golf lessons and pitch n’ putt followed by our first day of three in mental strength and resilience. This week students will be completing a Forensic science course looking at criminal investigations.
• Senior Soccer team narrowly beaten in recent outing. Great performances and huge potential with large number of junior students now actively involved.
• Halloween Fancy Dress Fun Run planned for Thursday 27th October. €2 euro entry. All proceeds to the Peter Mc Verry Trust. Prizes for costumes!
• 3rd year Parent Teacher Meeting scheduled for Wednesday 26th October. Face to face. 3.30pm to 6pm. More details to follow.
